    Hi,
I’d like to make 2 sub categories to this page. On those 2 pages, I’d like to have the same products, but without the option to purchase the 2nd attribute. That is, I just want people to go to “Stainless Steel Panels” and choose “add to cart” on the panel they want, and it will drop in only the stainless steel version.

    Is this possible?

    Making progress today!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey @liamfmvt,

Yeah, that is possible, but because of how Product Categories work by default I’d suggest creating a main ‘parent’ category and 2 ‘child’ or subcategories, like this example from my site:

Then, if you go to the **Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog** page, you can change the Category Display setting to
“Show categories & products” (instead of just “Show products”).

    Shaun,
That allows me to take a single product and put it into 2 subcategories, but what if I want a single product to have 2 variations, and each of those variations to be in their individual category?

    Hey @liamfmvt,

By default, the categories are assigned for the variable product as a whole, rather than specifying it for each variation option, though, it would be possible with a plugin or custom code.

Another (potentially easier) option would be to “Enable Archives” for the Attributes themselves on the **Products > Attributes** page and then use the attribute URL to direct to all the products with that same attribute. This is explained a bit more in the Managing Taxonomies doc, but you could even do something like add an image to the shop page that links to those specific attributes- which would look and function quite similar to the categories.

    Thanks Shaun,
I think I did something similar by creating filters, making a landing page, and linking to the category page with the filter already turned on. I added the plugin to make variations their own product, and I think the user experience is likely better now, since really you’d only be purchasing one or the other, never (rarely) both.

    Hey @liamfmvt,

Yeah, that was what I was thinking too but I didn’t see any better options when looking into this for you. I hope that helped, though!

    Hi @liamfmvt,

Just a heads up, I’ll be marking this thread as resolved as it’s been inactive for a bit. Hopefully, everything worked out okay!

If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new topic.

    Thanks.
