Using Mailpoet 3.60.1 on WordPress 5.6
I have set up a MailPoet subscribe to newsletter for.
This sends the confirm subscription email to the user.
Since I am using the MailPoet sending service, double opt-in confirmation should be mandatory, I see this message on the MailPoet Settings page for ‘Enable Signup Confirmation’ option.
However, as soon as the confirm subscription email is sent to the user, the user is subscribed – even thought hey have not followed the link to ‘Confirm Subscription’.
So how do I correctly enable double opt-in subscription?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I activated MailPoet version 3.60.4, an it happens on Theme 2021 and Lovecraft.

    Hi!

They should be added to your list but the status must be “Unconfirmed”:

And then, once they confirm, their status should change to “Subscribed”.

Can you confirm if this is the case? If so, that’s working as intended.

No, they fill out the subscribe to newsletter form and they then receive a confirmation email. At this time they are set to confirmed. They should remain unconfirmed until the reply to the second email.

    There’s no second email actually.

Someone fills the form (1 opt-in), then they’re added to the list as “Unconfirmed”. Then an email is sent (2 opt-in) where they can follow a link to confirm. Once they do that, the status changes to “Subscribed”.

I’ve filled the form of your site (https://bernardwozny.com) with a fake email address ([email protected]) and I got the message that the confirmation email has been sent:

Since the email is fake, I can’t confirm it. Could you please check the status of that subscriber from your end?

That is extraordinary, you are listed as unconfirmed.
When I use my own test email, it is always listed as subscribed. I delete my test user and try again and it is listed as subscribed. I just tested with a friend’s email and it appears to work. If the user follows the link to confirm subscription, then they are listed as subscribed.
I do have to tidy up the emails and confirmation page but this seems to work as expected.
Perhaps I don’t fully understand how the mechanism works – it seems that if someone previously subscribed, are then deleted, then they automatically subscribe a second time. I would need to test this some more to see if this is the case.
    Otherwise this is resolved
