    Hello,

We have a Grouped Product which has 5 products inside it. All those 5 products are now “out of stock” but still when you check the product in the dashboard or in the shop page, the status is showing “In Stock” (it only shows “In Stock” for the main Grouped Product. but if you visit the product page, all those 5 products have “out of stock” status next to them)

Any idea why this is happening, please?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

when you check the product in the dashboard or in the shop page, the status is showing “In Stock”

It is normal for the main grouped product to remain “in stock” in the admin dashboard since each product in a grouped product has it’s own inventory – child product inventory doesn’t affect the main product inventory.
However, the main product shouldn’t show its own stock status on the frontend.

That said, could you share the product page URL as well as a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

But how can we fix this? (the way we find it logical, is either not to show status for the main grouped product at all, or, the status be “out of stock” if ALL the products in a grouped product are out of stock)

Isn’t that the logical way to work? The main grouped product itself is just a container of a few products inside it. You can’t buy the main grouped product itself. It is not a real product. It’s just a name that contains multiple real products inside it. Why should a simple title/container have its own stock status when it has nothing to do with our inventory? (I can’t find an option to remove the main grouped product’s inventory status, or to make it be like how explained above)

This is causing confusion for our staff who are working on product management and … (and as we use API to integrate our site with EO, it is also causing confusion/conflict with that too)

However, the main product shouldn’t show its own stock status on the frontend.

    I managed to fix this.

I understand what you mean. Unfortunately, the core WooCommerce’s grouped product feature is more about product display which allows you to add similar products to a parent product. If you’d like to hide the main product (or show out of stock) conditionally when all child products are out of stock, you will need to custom code it – in which case, we recommend getting in touch with a web developer: https://woocommerce.com/customizations/
