    I clicked the prompt in WordPress to update our GiveWP database, and now the Donate button on our Home page and our Donate menu no longer work! What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

    HI there,

    I looked at your page, and navigated to the donation page. There is nothing in the content of that page at all. That’s highly unusual.

    But I do see that Give is active on your website still, so my best first suggestion is to try the following:

    1. Go to the Give form in your admin, edit it, and just click “Save” again, just to make sure that form is published with all its settings saved correctly.
    2. Go to “Settings > Permalinks” and just click “Save” again to ensure your permalinks are saved correctly.
    3. Make sure you clear any caching you have on your website, from plugins and from your web host (if they offer caching solutions).
    4. Go to “Donations > Updates” and see if there’s a Database update available for you. If there is, please run that update (AFTER you’ve made a backup of your site).

    If you do all of that and still have trouble please try to give us as much detail as you can about what you have tried and any other details about your site that might be relevant and we’ll help get to the bottom as soon as possible.

    Thanks so much for the speedy reply! I did steps 1 and 2 in your response, to no avail. I’m not aware of any caching on our wesbsite, but I’m not an experienced webmaster. Regarding step 4, I don’t see an Updates option under the Donations menu on the WordPress Dashboard, and the plug-in seems to be up to date. However, at one point when I was performing other tasks, I did see a prompt to update the GiveWP database, and I clicked that. I believe that’s when the button/menu stopped working. That’s the only thing I’ve done since our last donation was successfully received on March 17.

    Hi,

    We’ve got a small handful of other reports of this and can make a few guesses, but ultimately we need to check the error logs for clues.

    Here’s a plugin that should allow you to check the debug logs for clues: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/error-log-viewer/

    Follow the instructions there for checking the debug log and pass along any error message you see.

    Let us know if you find a conflict with another plugin or the theme.

    Sorry for my delay in responding; your reply went into my junk mail! I’ve fixed that! ??

    In any case, I’m not sure what happened, but the Donate button and menu are working again, so thank you!
