Indenting lists

I often create posts with numbered lists. However, I don’t like the appearance of the text if the box is in the list format – the text scrunches together, with very little space between lines or words. If I put the numbered item in the list in a paragraph format, it looks better.

However, whether I use the list or paragraph format, each line is aligned under the number. I want the text to be aligned under the first letter of the text on the first line.

E.g., this is how the text currently appears:

4. Writing is a solitary activity. It’s healthy for us to take a break to connect with people “in real life” and to hear other’s stories. It is rejuvinating and can inspire new ideas.

I want it to look like this but don’t know how to get there:

4. Writing is a solitary activity. It’s healthy for us to take a break to
connect with people “in real life” and to hear other’s stories. It is
rejuvinating and can inspire new ideas.
