• I have been having multiple problems trying to keep my wp site active. Getting frequent Internal Error messages.

I backed up the old wp-content folder

I installed a new clean version of WordPress (5.7?)

I copied the old wp-content folder into the new WordPress directory.

How can I have the new version use the old database for the content and the old theme etc?

    Thanks

    Whit

    Hi Steven

    Thanks for the hint.

I replaced the new database name with the old one in the two spots where i located the new one. Saved the changes.

But no luck , received a error:

    Error establishing a database connection

Are these databases all stored in the same one location. I couldn’t find them doing a search.

Any thoughts as to what I might be doing wrong?

Is there a technique for perhaps importing those wp-posts from the old DB into the new one?

    Thanks

Any ideas where the other info is stored, not the content but maybe the titles etc, and the theme indicator.

Did you move your site to a new host? If so, did you also move the database contents?

    Hi Steven

Thank you for all your help.

As suggested I went to the SQL manager and chnged the password for the DB.

Then put that in the wp-config file and

presto, I have the site back.

    Thank you, thank you
