W3 Total Cache minify hidden page
-
Hi there,
Thanks for great plugin.
I have no CDN, latest WP, plugins, theme. Created a mobile version of home page.
If I have w3 Total Cache minify HTML, my mobile page fails to complete load. If I disable minify of HTML, the mobile page loads. I’ve tried this dozens of times and made changes/cleared caches, etc.
Not much to go on, I know, but I’ve tried what I can’t seem to get w3 Total Cache, minification and your plugin to play nice together.
At the moment, the cache is somewhat ineffective as another plugin is adding a unique id to every request (svg element), but that doesn’t seem to equal broken minify feature.
So, here’s how I trigger the problem. With W3 Total Cache minify on, update media-query string, clear all caches, open new Chrome Guest window, open devtools (disabled cache), open the page in desktop mode, and it works fine. I see a loading triple dot animation, and then the page loads. Source of index.html looks good. When I enable responsive mode for an iPhone X, and reload the page, I get loading triple dot animation, but the page does not appear. The rotating circle in the address bar stops, and Chrome thinks the page is loaded. index.html looks good, but the page does not appear. Same happens on my physical iPhone device.
To fix the problem in devtools Chrome and on physical device, I just need to turn off HTML minify in w3 Total Cache. I’ve tried this several times, and the behavior is reproducible.
Very strange, no?
The site is currently set to disabled HTML minify.
Any ideas?
Also, I was kind of unlucky in that I tested this on a newly created page and everything was working great, but when I moved to a publicly active page, things eventually settled into the pattern where I am now. What is the safest way to unwind the association between the mobile page and the public page? Just in case I need to do that.
Richard
