Downloaded Files Cannot Open

I can upload files to my customer’s profiles, and they can be downloaded, but when trying to open the downloaded file I get an error saying that the file is not in a supported format or has been corrupted. I am uploading PDF files, and have tried opening them with Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer and Chrome. They documents open perfectly fine before uploading, but after downloading them from my client’s portal, the files are corrupted.
