• Hi,

I’ve started using WPSC recently but am running into a couple of challenges. The plugin was recommended both by the developer of my theme (Kalium) and my hosting provider, who added that I need to use the htaccess method, so I’ve stuck it in “expert” mode.

It seems to basically work – when the site is browsed, pages are added to the cache as expected. The html comment tag is added to cached pages, and the timestamp comparison test is OK.

What does not work, however, is preloading. When I hit the preload button (or a scheduled preload is run), I first get a countdown at the top of the page, then some output on what pages are being cached – but when it’s done, there are 0 pages cached, 0k of data in the cache.

My first question is therefore: why? I’m sure the answer to that is “check the debug log”, which brings me to my second question:

when I click the link to the debug log and paste in the “username/password” string, it seems the login credentials aren’t accepted. The user/pw prompt just pops up again. I’ve tried a couple of different browsers etc, as well as turning logging off and on, deleting the log, and turning WPSC off and on. What gives?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I’m not sure, especially without the debug log. I just visited your site and the front page is cached. Your site will cache naturally as visitors go there. You could even remove the “Rejected User Agents” on the Advanced Settings page so that bots visiting your blog will create cache files.
