Database Updater Has To Be Run Daily

    I have a client site up to date with latest Woocommerce version and all plugins are up to date. But all of a sudden every day sometime overnight something happens and I get the database needs to be updated message. One of my plugins doesn’t work until the updater is run so my client doesn’t get delivery date and other fields the plugin adds such as card message. I run the updater and everything is fine until the next day.

    I deleted my caching plugin and had all caches cleared by hosting company. But it didn’t help and this morning update message was there again. I have no automatic updates turned on either.

    Is there a solution to this issue?

    That’s strange! Let’s check if there is an error on the WooCommerce Logs. So please, provide us the following:

    • System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
    • Error log: share a copy of the fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available)

    This is all that is in the log:

    What happens is every night around 10pm, the database goes from:

    WC Database Version: 5.0.0

    To

    WC Database Version: 2.6.4

    I run the updater and everything is fine until the next night. I migrated to my other server and this did not happen. So I think it’s a server issue with HostGator on my dedicated server, but they can’t seem to find what is causing this to happen every night.

    I will probably just change the DNS and keep it on my other server, but I would like to figure out what caused it in case it ever happens again.

    It seems that there is a plugin conflict with the WordPress SEO-Plugin. Could you please deactivate it and check if the issue persists?

    That was an old error that never repeated.

    Here’s the interesting thing. I migrated a copy from my HostGator server over to my WP Engine server. This never seems to happen in my tests. 4 nights in a row and I can’t reproduce. Yet my live site does it every night. HostGator cannot seem to tell me why, though it would seem to be a hosting issue.

    What could cause this to revert back to an old version of the Woocommerce database every night?

    I see! It sounds like there is a caching plugin that might be caching your database and causing this issue. Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
