Hi there,

I’ve seen similar issues here but not sure best course of action. I had installed WP Maintenance Mode and my site was hidden (as it should be) but had an issue where I needed to uninstall all plugins and reinstall.

Now, for some reason the maintenance mode is not functioning properly. Users are still able to access my site, though when they click on a post, that is when the maintenance mode pops up. I don’t want any part of my site to be seen until it is complete/launched.

I have cleared my cache, double checked settings, updated my themes, etc. to no luck. Someone had mentioned a possible issue with PHP programming on my wordpress site but I am unsure? Please help!!

Hello @deidraa,

In 9 out 10 cases, the issue occurs because the cache is not properly cleared. So I have the same recommendation as always: ask your hosting provider why this happens.

Hi George, my hosting provider is site ground – are you recommending I contact them to see what the issue is on their end?

@deidraa Yes, tell them some of your pages are still served from the cache even if you cleared the cache.

Just wanted to give 1 star – but completely disabling (fastCGI) cache did the trick. Don’t need to cache while doing the pages anyway.

Not sure it’s the FAQ somewhere:

If you have any type of cache you need to purge it frequently while working on your page. Specially just before you logout. And that means any cache, WP, FastCGI, Redis, Cloudflare, ***CDN etc.

If the Maintenance Mode still ain’t showing, clear your browser data (cache and cookies).

This worked at least for me.
