Missing Yoast Box
-
I’m trying to access the Yoast SEO function on WordPress in my posts. The tabs do appear but I can not see anything. I’ve tried clearing my browser cache, my cookies, restarting my computer. Then I tried a different browser, still getting the same results. I then tried a completely different computer, still getting the same results. How can I fix this?
Other authors on my site are able to see the contents of the Yoast box but I can not for some reason. I am the website’s admin as well.
Site Theme: Flex Mag

@nseubs We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
Can you please first clarify whether the issue is that the Yoast SEO metabox doesn’t appear whatsoever on the edit screen of your site’s posts, or does the metabox appear and it’s content area loads as blank or won’t load (meaning you see the top of the tabs, but nothing else)?
If the metabox is appearing but not loading, a?blank meta box?issue occurs due to a JavaScript conflict. So?we’d like you to please perform a conflict check. This will help us narrow down the exact cause and determine what the next steps are while saving you time.
Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?
Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.
If you do not feel comfortable to do this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.
I’m having the same issue! I uninstalled all plugins and it still didn’t work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Yoast multiple times as well.
@staceeandco We are sorry you’re having this issue. Per the forum guidelines, we ask that you please create a separate topic for the issue you are experiencing.
That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance on your specific concerns on your specific site. Plus, you will get your own alerts for the issue rather than someone else’s. You may make a new topic here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordpress-seo/#new-post.
@devnihil I see the Yoast headers so I see the tabs at the top SEO, Readability, Schema and Social, but nothing below them, just nothing populates below them when I click on them. The health check and troubleshooting plugin turns up no errors for me. I deactivated all plugins except the Yoast plugin and it’s still not showing up in the posts. Something doesn’t add up because other admins on my site can see the Yoast SEO tabs and information inside the boxes below them populate with information. So I know that the plugin actually works, I’m just the only user/admin on my site that can’t see this information currently.
@nseubs Thanks for your reply.
A?blank meta box?issue occurs due to a JavaScript conflict. We understand that you’ve already tried deactivating all other plugins except for Yoast SEO and the issue was still occurring.
Can you please also confirm whether the issue still occurs when only the Yoast SEO plugin and a default theme?like?Twenty Nineteen are active?
@nseubs Thanks for confirming.
We would next recommend checking the following settings to confirm that they are set correctly:
-
? Can you confirm you have the right user permissions? You can check by going to Users->Profile->Yoast SEO settings (may need to scroll down) and confirm that both “Disable SEO analysis” and “Disable readability analysis” are unclicked?
? Can you confirm that the SEO and Readability are enabled by going to SEO->General->Features and checking that SEO Analysis and Readability Analysis are both set to ‘On’?
? Can you confirm that the SEO and Readability are enabled on the posts? You can check by going to SEO->Search Appearance->Content Types and seeing that the ‘Show SEO settings’ says “Show” for the respective content type (pages, posts, etc)?
? Can you confirm that if you go to the post/page and click on Screen Options (in the top right) that all the right options are enabled? You can do so for the block editor by performing the following actions:
-
In WordPress, go to the edit screen where the meta box is missing.
Click on the ‘More tools and Options’ three dot icon.
Click on ‘Preferences’ at the bottom.
Under ‘Document settings’, check the ‘Yoast SEO’ checkbox.
Under ‘Additional panels’, check the ‘Yoast SEO’ checkbox.
To show the panel, check the ‘Yoast SEO’ box.We also have a guide on enabling this at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/yoastseo-meta-box-missing/ and these articles should also help serve as a guide for some of the settings: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-enable-disable-the-keyword-analysis/ and https://yoast.com/help/enable-disable-content-readability-analysis/
@devnihil yes I can confirm that all of the settings you listed in the previous post are selected and turned on.
@nseubs Thanks for confirming those settings. If all of those settings are correct, and the metabox is still loading only the top of the tabs even when all other plugins are disabled and using a default theme this may be caused by an issue with JavaScript that is specific to your user account.
If you were to create a new user in WordPress, can you confirm whether the issue also affects it?
We would also recommend to try clearing the site’s cache completely, in the event the problem is somehow being caused by a cached JavaScript file that is specific to your user. If you clear your cache (server, plugin/theme, or CDN such as Cloudflare) does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider.
@devnihil i’ve cleared the cache using the WP Rocket plugin. I’ve also created a new user with admin capabilities, I then logged in as the new user and could not see the Yoast SEO boxes, I could see the tabs, but nothing in them.
Hi @nseubs
It’s strange that the Yoast SEO meta box is still only partially loading/appearing as blank even with all of the troubleshooting you’ve done.
When you performed the conflict check and reverted to a default WP theme (such as TwentyTwenty), did you also disable the rest of the plugins on your website, and just enable Yoast SEO for WordPress v16.1.1? There weren’t any JavaScript errors that appeared in the browser’s console? — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/
Now I’m being told by other authors on my site that they’re also unable to see the box contents, but just tabs. Only one person currently on my site is able to see the contents.
When I performed the conflict check, and reverted to a default WP theme, every other plugin was disabled. I only activated Yoast SEO.
A Javascript error that I’m seeing is listed here in Chrome’s console:
Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token – search-metadata-previews-1611.js:1
Thanks for your confirmation. We’re sorry to hear that you’re still having the blank metabox issue with Yoast SEO. We can imagine how that could be frustrating for you.
Due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum.
So, if you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription or if you can consider buying one, we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately through email.
However, if you don’t wish to get the Yoast SEO Premium subscription, that’s completely fine. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue further on your setup as we are literally out of any clue at this moment without taking a look at the setup. So, someone from the community might step forward as well who has experienced or familiar with the issue.
Thanks for your understanding!
We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
