Post Hit REAL meaning

Hi guys

I,m not an expert, for sure. Just to clarify it 100%:

Are these Hits that the Plugin counts for each Post / Article the sames as views. Is each unit equal to one time someone opened and saw a Post / article

or is must it be divided by the number of files etc etc that the post / article contains ??
