I recently took over managing this 2011 site, and moved it to another hosting. I clicked wordpress update, and theme, plugins. In doing so, we lost the home page customisation (i presume it was a customisation) that allowed the home page content, which comprised only a single paragraph of plain text, to appear above the post grid which is enabled by choosing Grid Gallery Template.. So now, Photolux theme, opening the wp-admin home page to edit, choose Grid Template, and you can only get the grid. Choose default template, and you only get the home page text content. So we want both to appear. How to do this? The pages have a section called: General Page Settings but there is nowhere to enable both from there. There may be a child theme but I cannot tell if its the right one, or active or not. The site was showing both the intro homepage text, and the Grid Gallery prior to last week before I updated. Now its lost. And the previous developers have not got the theme licence. So I cant approach the photolux theme authors for help. There is nothing in Photolux documentation. There must be some way to enable the home page content, and display the full grid gallery template, without having to recode it in the back end. (which I cannot do). Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
I might also add that the developers were offering me a zip file of a backup so I could revert it to see how it was set up before the error. But the problem with that, is I have limited back-end skills to make sure updates dont overwrite it again, thus repeating the error again. What seems logical to me is use the default template, then insert some shortcode in the page to allow grid feed. But there is no customiser or builder feature in this wordpress, to be able to drag and drop an element onto the home page if we used the default template.
I think the theme is too old? no Theme builder either. It only has a plugin called Portfolio posts loader, which enables selection of the category in order to display that.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • We don’t support paid themes here.
Your best bet is to use the zip file of the backup, so everything is how it used to be, instead of guessing.
