I am unable to proceed beyond these messaages:
“Sitekit cannot access the WordPress REST api. Please ensure it is enabled on your site”
    and
    “Invalid Nonce”

My developer was on the phone and was able to do this on her computer/analytics set-up.

She revoked the link and tried to walk me through the process.

It hangs on the verification process, “checking compatibility” for upwards of 30 minutes, occasionally showing me the above messages.

All plugins are up to date.

  • Hey @gaylehurmuses ,

Apologies you are not able to setup Site Kit.

Can you please let me know following things:

    1. Do you see any errors reported at Tools > Site Health in your site’s Dashboard?
    2. Are you running any server-side security such as ModSecurity, Web Application Firewalls or security reverse proxies such as Sucuri?

To troubleshoot this can you please share Site Health info via form privately so we can inspect at our end based on the Site Health information.

    Best Regards,

    My developer replies:

It’s not anything else as I was able to get in. Or perhaps it is conflicting with something you are already connected to in Google. Ask what might be an issue Google side

    Hey,

Thanks for getting back to us.

From inspecting your site it seems you don’t have redirection in place, to your fully secure (https) site, along with mismatching URLS defined in your WordPress general settings, with with your site listed as http and another as https.

Can you ensure you have redirection in place for all traffic to https://, while then defining both URLs as secure (https) in your WordPress general settings. If you are using WordPress latest version then you can place direction by going to Tools > Site Health. Check if you can see any security error regarding http & use the button to migrate to https:// with one click.

After doing so please attempt Site Kit setup once more by following above mentioned steps and let me know how you get on.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi @abdullahramzan

Thank you for your help. I logged in to begin addressing the redirection issue you mention. but decided to try setting up Site Kit again first, and the issue has resolved itself.

    Hey @gaylehurmuses ,

Glad to hear Redo Site Kit setup worked for you & thanks for sharing the workaround with us.

Feel free to open a new topic in case of any issues/questions.

    Happy Monday!

Once upon a time, I was really getting frustrated with these two errors so i could feel how exhausted you are with the issues. Not to worry, try the below suggestions –

For invalid nonce: How to fix “Invalid nonce” error in WordPress site?

For Site kit error: WordPress REST API error in Google Analytics
