I have contacted the hosting site. Jetpack cannot call out from site. Have tried recommendations from WordPress to no avail. This includes WordPress, Wordfence and Google Analytics (Exact Metrics). I have contacted the host about this. Is there something else I’m missing? Thank you in advance.

    Hi @wpkaren

Thank you for the rapid response. Here is the website: https://universaldigest.com. It was upgraded to VPS in September of 2020. If this is helpful the URL prefix is dinmt.universaldigest.com. The host claims it may be something else, but I see that the hosting site is blocking outbound calls and shouldn’t it be released? Thank you, again for helping out.

    Sincerely,
    Ed

    Hi @mredsmith

Thanks for that, I took a look for you and your Jetpack connection looks great.

Can you tell us a little more specifics about the issues you’re having? When you’re saying Jetpack cannot call out from site – what features are being impacted here?

Hi Bruce, thanks for taking a look. I suspect configuration issues at the hosting site. They are now asking me to delete Jetpack and then reinstall it. I am getting a cURL error 28 from Exact Metrics. I cannot run a scan with Wordfence. This all happened at the same time about 3 weeks ago or so. I had configured Cloudflare correctly in September of 2020 when I went to their VPS hosting (their request). I even went to Cloudflare and configured all WordPress/Wordfence IP addresses to be allowed. Am in a quandary. To date, when there were plugin issues it was acceptable to just deactivate and reactivate. I appreciate in advance your thoughts on this situation. Thank you! -Ed

PS: Features not seen are the graphs, but it seems all else is working that I can recall.

    Hi @mredsmith,

Thanks for explaining the issues you’re seeing at your end. To recap:

    – you can’t see any Jetpack Stats, but suspect more features aren’t working well
    – Exact Metrics reports a cURL error 28 for your site
    – You have problems with Wordfence and Cloudflare

I had a look at your Jetpack connection and still looks nice and stable as Bruce reported earlier; I then checked the xmlrpc.php file for your site – which is the main connection point between your site and Jetpack – and I can confirm there’s a block in place. This is probably the root of all (or most) the issues.

Check for any security/caching plugin you may have enabled (I suspect Wordfence might be clashing with Jetpack at the moment), and try temporarily disable them, to see if it fixes the problem. You may also want to search for any other firewall on your server-side that might be blocking the communication with the xmlrpc.php file – your host should be able to help you with that.

Also, since you’re using Cloudflare, please make sure that you’ve followed the following guides, which outline the proper set up for Jetpack and Cloudflare:?

    https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/218377098-WordPress-JetPack-and-Cloudflare

Let us know how that goes, and we’ll be here to help out if you’re still having issues. Thanks!

Hello and thank you all, @wpkaren, @bruceallen, and @erania-pinnera!

I took the advice regarding the fatal error and block with Wordfence. I completely deleted it from plugins and then reinstalled it. That fixed everything. I re-authenticated WordPress, Google (Exact Metrics), et al. Everything is working fine now. Thank you all so much for the rapid responses. I am also a premium member with Wordfence so we should not see this happen again, hopefully. The hosting site was doing their best and now we are all set. I can write instead of trying to make things right, lol. Cloudflare had been properly configured. Cheers!
