Help need – can’t get beyond wp-admin/install.php.. Failed to open stream

  • Have spent the past three evenings trying to install WordPress – and keep hitting the same problem! Can anyone help!!!

    It appears that all the files are correctly uploaded onto my server – they copy across perfectly (although can’t see the ‘green % progress bars’ that my installment guide show – got them once but no longer when I try – are they important?), so my server ‘seems’ to mirror my WordPress file on my desktop.

    HOWEVER, when I follow the next steps and type wp-admin/install.php, I get this message…

    Warning: require_once(/www/sites/480/c72/www.mesenfantsterribles.com/web/wp-includes/wp-db.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /www/sites/480/c72/www.mesenfantsterribles.com/web/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2825

    When I check what’s on the server thsi file does seem to be there though. Have actually also had this message several other times saying other files are missing too. Seems to be no rhyme or reason.!

    This is UTTERLY new to me, so ANY advice – in layman’s terms – would be great. Am about to GIVE UP!!! Thanks.

    I’m running Windows XP 2002.
