In the builder, the search function doesn’t work to search through existing media library files. I want to use photos from a blog post in 2017, and I’m forced to scroll endlessly to find it because when I search, I get “no results found” for keywords OR if I’m putting in the exact file name as well. This takes so much time from creating, just to locate a file.

Hi there, @slashedbeauty! We’ll be happy to look into this report. To confirm, you’re getting no results found inside the story editor, correct?

    Who is your hosting provider?
Does that media file exist in your WordPress media library as well?
Do you offload your media to any external services?

Would you mind sharing a screen recording of the issue you are experiencing? You can use services like JumpShare or Recordit.

    Hosting provider: GoDaddy
Yes, the media file exists in the wordpress media library, I’m trying to reference a file that’s been in my library for years.
    No, I’m not offloading media.

Here’s a screen recording of me trying to reference a file name of an image in my media library.

(this particular file is newer but this exact same sequence happens when trying to reference ANY files in my media library.)

    @slashedbeauty Thanks for sending that!

    1. ) Could you check if this issue occurs when all other plugins disabled in an incognito window?

To simulate this, you can use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    – Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
    – Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    – Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

    2. ) Could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

We’ll try to do some testing on our end as well.

    Thanks!

@slashedbeauty I personally haven’t been able to reproduce the issue, but have you had a chance to check the above and submit your Site Health information?

Yes, I did so privately thru the form and got a reply it was received, did you get it?

@slashedbeauty Apologies, yes it is linked to your other topic.

Were you able to check if the search works correctly when Web Stories has been activated alone?

@slashedbeauty have you checked if this issue occurs when all other plugins are disabled in an incognito window? Are you able to search correctly when Web Stories has been activated alone?

There are some plugins I can’t deactivate or it will break my theme, but the ones I did deactivate and checked in incognito mode, didn’t make a difference.

@slashedbeauty Just checking in here –?have you had a chance to try troubleshooting mode as @luckynasan suggested? Happy to answer any other questions here. Thanks!

Hi there– yes, in troubleshooting mode I’m still having the same problem with ONLY web stories plugin enabled. Any keyword or file name that I know should pull up files leaves me with “no results found”

@slashedbeauty Thanks for taking the time to do that and for following up. If this is still occurring with only the Web Stories plugin enabled, the issue here could be related to your particular WordPress and/or hosting setup. We’ll do some more digging and get back to you as soon as we have some more details. Thank you for your patience!

Thanks Bethany. I have auto update on my wordpress so am always on the latest version. I host through GoDaddy on a dedicated server that I share with 8 other sites (only 1 other with substantial traffic)

Hi @slashedbeauty! Thanks for your patience here. If possible, could you check if this issue occurs on any of the other sites, or if you could possibly check if this issue occurs on a site by another hosting provider? Unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce this issue and it’s possible it could be related to your particular WordPress and/or hosting setup.

I dont have another site or space to test on, but on a call with other creators through the Acorn program, I was one of maybe 3-5 other creators who were having this problem, this was about 3 weeks ago.
