Post Via Email causing database error

Hi all,

I recently set up a wordpress blog on my Dreamhost server.

All was running well until I tried to configure post-via-email.

I followed this guide: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Blog_by_Email

Then I got to this section:

” Manual Browser Activation

Go to the following link https://example.com/installdir/wp-mail.php immediately after you send an e-mail to your new e-mail account. (Note: You must do this every time you send a new post.)”

Immediately after doing so, I got an “Error establishing a database connection” error.

I have checked the wp-config file and the db_name, user and passwords are all correct.

Does anyone know what the solution might be here?
