Hi, since installing Autoptimize I’ve been receiving an error saying no XML sitemap can be found. is there any way of fixing this?

    Thanks in advance

I’m afraid I don’t see any way Autoptimize could cause this Christie. Can you share your site’s URL so I can have a quick look at what’s going on?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I’ve looked & I can’t see the issue, I’ve even tried turning off each setting & seeing which, if any could be affecting it but to no avail.

When checking google etc.. website & urls are all still visible. I just keep receiving the same error of no XML sitemap can be found.

My website url is – https://www.crystalwaxcreations.co.uk/

    Thanks again ??

Pretty sure it’s not due to Autoptimize, confirm by briefly disabling Autoptimize maybe?

Based on what I see https://www.crystalwaxcreations.co.uk/sitemap.xml exists but the XML is wrong with this error shown in the browser:

XML Parsing Error: no root element found
    Location: https://www.crystalwaxcreations.co.uk/sitemap.xml
    Line Number 1, Column 1:

The file itself in turn points to https://www.crystalwaxcreations.co.uk/sitemap-1.xml which I was able to load 1 time, but afterwards it gave the same issues.

Based on the contents of the files they are generated by Jetpack, so you could either try a different SEO/ sitemap solution (Yoast or one of the many ohters) or you could open a ticket at the Jetpack support forum?

hmm thats strange, it should be yoast that handles my XML sitemaps, I’ve just gone into jetpack & disabled the sitemap option, as i think perhaps they may have been clashing

I’ve checked google search console & everything seems to be just fine there, so now i’m baffled.

it might indeed be/ have been a conflict between yoast & jetpack, maybe there’s an option in yoast to regenerate on request?

Unfortunately not, I’ve tried disabling clearing cache & trying again but it still doesn’t seem to be working. Are you still seeing the same error?

when doing a hard refresh (control-f5) it works and it indeed is a yoast sitemap ??
