• Hello,

I have a Yahoo Small Business plan and set up my WordPress blog through it.

I use the blog extensively for my work (teaching), and I need it up and running quickly.

But since I upgraded to the WordPress 2.9.2 (as directed by Yahoo), I get a WordPress message about upgrading the database whenever I try to reach the control panel.

    Database Upgrade Required

WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to upgrade your database to the newest version.

The upgrade process may take a little while, so please be patient.

But when I press the button, I get a blank page with just the WordPress logo.

I called Yahoo tech support – since I pay for the service – and talked for over a hour with them and they couldn’t resolve the problem.

I really don’t have the time to search around for how to fix this then apply it.

I am barely a tech novice, and I work long, long hours.

But I need this problem solved now because I’m in the middle of a school term and the blog is a key part of my teaching…

    HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you….

  • If PHP memory is set to low on the server, you may get blank page. What is the PHP memory limit on the server? You can check it using phpinfo page. Just create a php file with following contents:

    <?php phpinfo(); ?>

Browse the file and check the value for memory_limit. If it is less than 32 MB, I suggest you to contact yahoo to increase it for you.

Thanks, but I doubt that is it:

I was on the phone with the Yahoo people for over an hour and they finally said they had checked and tried everything they could think of to get it to work and were punting me to WordPress – which does not have phone or email support people.

And I don’t have the time or tech skill to troubleshoot this if the Yahoo people could work on it for so long only to end up admitting they were stumped.

This sucks – because I need to use the blog for work on a daily basis – every day it is down is not good.

The php memory limit is actually the cause 90% of the time here..did you make sure all your plugins were disabled when making the update?
