    Hello,

I have hosted a wordpress website version 5.7.2. All plugin are uptodate.
It is installed on an ubuntu server 20.04.2 x64.

I use your BackupGuard Plugin, what is working fine, when I start a full-backup manually with then blue button “Backup”. Then everything is fine. Size of the full-backup from 2021-05-17 07:23:00 is 6631,61 MB.

But when the full-backup starts automatically with scheduled backup, then it always failed.Backup-size is empty. Date from failed backup is 2021-05-18 05:10:00

Can you please help me to fix this?
Is there a Log-file to check the last failed backup?
    What information do you need?

    Thank you very much.

    best regards,
    Alexander

    Hi dear @alex89w ,

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Yes, there should be a log file which could help us understand what the issue is.

You can download the mentioned log file by this article link:
    https://help.backup-guard.com/en/article/download-backup-log-file-fgh0gi/

Please send it via wetransfer.com using the link retrieving option.
    Like this: https://prnt.sc/qr3ntv`

On another note, could you tell us if it’s always the scheduled backups that fail? Are the manual ones successful?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi,

    thank you for your help.

Yes, it’s always failing at the scheduled backup.
    Manual backup are successful.

Here you can find the backup-log for the failed backup:

    Dear @alex89w ,

Thank you for sharing the logs with us.

Could you increase the Max Execution Time from your hosting?
And also decrease the “Number of Rows to Backup” value from 10000 to 1000 from BackupGuard plugin settings.

Once done, please, run another scheduled backup and if it fails again, please, share the log with us.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have set “Numbers of rows to backup at once” from 10000 to 1000.

But what do you mean with “…increase the Max Execution Time from your hosting”?
Do you mean the setting “Request frequency” at backupGoard? This is set with “10 seconds”.

    Thanks,
    greetings,
    Alex

    Hello again,

    I have googled it. ??

According to this website I have searched in all 3 files.
At the moment only in my php.ini file I found “max_execution_time = 30”
    https://thimpress.com/knowledge-base/how-to-increase-maximum-execution-time-for-wordpress-site/

The question is if I should change it here in the php.ini or would it better for the future to set for example “set_time_limit(300);” in wp-config.php file?

Because when I will upgrade the php-version in the future then maybe the php.ini file can change?!? So I think it would be better in the wp-config.php file.

Which value would be great for execution time?

    Thank you very much

    Good morning,

    What I did:
    – BackupGuard Setting –> “Numbers of rows to backup at once” from 10000 to 1000
    – wp-config.php at the end of the file –> set_time_limit(300);
    – Restart apache2

Scheduled Backup from 2021-05-20 05:22:00 failed again.

Maybe my wp-config change didn’t worked. Should I try it with .htaccess?

Here is the backuplog file from last failed backup:

    Dear @alex89w ,

Thank you for sharing the results of your tests with us.

The issue needs a deeper investigation it seems.
And in order to do that, could you send an email at [email protected] and include the link to this thread, please?
We need some info which shouldn’t be shared here.

    Thank you!

@backup-guard I am having an issue by importing a backup, it says “file failed to upload”, it is called “sg_backup_opt(full)_20210617123126.sgbp”.
I tried to put the lines to 1000 or 100 but nothing changes…
Please help, there are months of work inside that backup!

    Daer @patrickmoling02 ,

Thanks for bringing your issue to our attention.

May we know which version of the BackupGuard plugin and WordPress you use currently?
As a solution, can we ask you to use our SGBP extractor and extract the backup file you are trying to upload to make sure it is not damaged?
To use SGBP extractor you firstly need to download and install the mentioned software on your PC.
    You can download it here:
    https://backup-guard.com/downloads/

After installing the SGBP extractor, you need to choose the respective archive you want to extract and also choose the destination path where you want to extract.
More details can be found in the following link:
    https://help.backup-guard.com/en/article/extract-sgbp-archive-hwyeo1/

In case the file will be successfully extracted, please, try to upload the backup file using the FTP.

Please, share the results with us.

    Best,
    BackupGuard Team

I extracted it, seems fine… I’m sorry for the bad rating but I can’t lose a backup like that, at random, at least integrate in the plugin a check for make sure it’s not broken.

    Der @patrickmoling02 ,

Thanks a lot for getting back to us.
In case the the backup file looks fine, may we know if you have tried to upload it using the FTP?
    What are the results, please?
On another note, have you tried to import another backup file?
Did you get the same results?

Please, get back to us, once you have tried the suggestions.

    Best,
    BackupGuard Team

    @backup-guard

I have tried with another file and I get the same result…

I have to try FTP still, I will update you with how it goes.

    Thanks for the support.

Actually I deleted the wp-content via FTP and I had put in it the backup one and it worked fine, there is only one thing that I can’t understand now…

Wasn’t in a FULL BACKUP? I actually got back plugins and themes but what I really need is the site and the pages…

I hope for FULL BACKUP the meaning is not plugins, uploads, themes, customer-area and languages!

    (@backup-guard)

    Dear @patrickmoling02 ,

Thanks a lot for letting us know.
We are glad the upload via FTP worked.
May I know if the backup file you have uploaded is a full backup?
In case it is, it needs to include a Database and Files( wp-content, uploads, plugins, themes).

On another note, you can contact us via [email protected] email address and send us the backup file itself and restore log, so we can compare them and see what is the issue.
Please, send us the support thread as well, so we can identify you easily.

    Best,
    BackupGuard Team
