newest yoast update disables editor
-
I have tested this on a pristine local install with no other plugins and using the twenty-twentyone theme any access to editor receives the prompt: “The editor has encountered an unexpected error.” – it should be noted that my local server is running PHP ver 7.3.1
this is the same issue as described here https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/problems-with-yoast-seo-v16-3-wp-v5-7-2/#post-14467345 and it is not resolved
-
I have opened this as a separate issue as per the request of: – Md Mazedul Islam Khan (@mazedulislamkhan)
Hello Jeff,
Thanks for reaching out.
To troubleshoot further, while you’re on the page, can you please check if there are Javascript errors on your browser’s console? You may follow the steps here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/
This is what I see (again please note that this is in effect an empty site with only Yoast running)

Thanks for sharing the relevant error here with us. Looks like we used to have an issue report about it in 2020 but was closed due to the lack of enough information. Here’s the relevant issue report that we’re talking about: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/15898
That said, are you running the site on your local host? Can you please confirm how can we exactly reproduce the issue on our end?
We look forward to hearing from you.
It is on a local host using ServerPress desktop server – NGROK is active right now

I cannot leave this active indefinitely – please let me know if you are going to access the local soon
@jeffmcnear These are public forums, please never share passwords here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#the-bad-stuff
The plugin’s support asked for details on how they can reproduce this on their end. Please provide them with those details.
I am at a loss as to what to do – I have told you what my install consists of, what environment it is running on and have given you access to it – this is an issue that I am not alone in experiencing and there cannot be any conflicting variables at play since the install is pristine and largely empty. The issue manifested itself immediately after updating Yoast to its’ latest version – do you have any advice?
@jeffmcnear If the issue is occurring with a clean install of WordPress 5.7.2 and while using a default theme such as TwentyTwentyOne, this may be due to an issue related to something specific to your environment.
We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so your best next step would be to create a new issue for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You will need an account to create a new issue. If this is your first bug report, please check out: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/.
thanks … for what it’s worth I see this issue in the PC environment using ServerPress/Desktop server – but do not see this in a MAC environment OR in a “live” Apache environment
Hi,
You can add all of the relevant information in your bug report, as we outline the environment details in the article here – https://yoast.com/help/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/
Hi @jeffmcnear
We’re closing this thread as there seem no further questions from you. Please provide all updates to the Github report created. Please feel free to open a new thread should you have further concerns.
