    Hi @elirab

In order to only have a short excerpt show in the subscriber emails go to Settings → Reading in your dashboard, and locate the option for “For each article in a feed, show” and make sure that’s set to Summary.

With the “Full text” option enabled, your followers will get the full content of your posts. If you prefer, you can split the content of each one of your blog posts into two parts thanks to the More tag. Everything that is above the More tag will appear on your home page and in the subscription emails, followed by a link inviting users to click to continue reading. Everything that is below that tag will only appear on the post’s page.

One more thing – please advise why does the Jetpack app disappear off my WordPress sites from time to time, and I have to re download and activate the plugin?
    Thanks

    Hi @elirab

There’s nothing on Jetpack’s side which should do this, it’s possible there might be something on your server which is causing this or perhaps a conflict with another plugin. Checking your Site Health section might yield some clues on this.

Hi – I have just posted a new blog:
    https://elirab.me/our-kalgoorlie-visit/
and again only one line is emailed to my subscribers rather than the full blog
I have selected full text rather than summary
    Please advise
    Thanks, Eli

Another post emailed to my subscribers has only resulted in a summary post.

I want a full descrition by email. Where am I going wrong? Thanks

elirab just published a new post named Afrikaner-Jewish relationship ((Part 1). You can view the full article here:

    Hi Eli

Jetpack doesn’t control what is included in the email, it only uses the “For each post in a feed, include” setting. If that’s set to full, then your full post should be included in the email. Another possibility is if you use the ‘More’ tag/block in your posts:

    More Block

If you’re using that, only the content before that block will be included in the email.

Hi Dan – I only use Classic not Block when composing a post. Is that going to be a problem for me?
Everytime the Jetpack plugin disengages from my www.ads-software.com site (which happens quite often) it reverts back to a default when I reloaad the plugin. I lose the detail in the notification email that is automatically sent to my subscribers when I create a new post. I dont want to send them a one line summary email, but a full descrition which used to be the case.
What is the exact setting for this, and exactly where do I find it.
The post itself is normaal and not missing anything. It is the notification email that is the issue!
    Thanks

    Hi @elirab

The Classic Editor should not be a problem in relation to this.

As mentioned, the setting that controls what is included in the subscription email is in Settings > Reading: ‘For each post in a feed, include:’

It’s a core WordPress setting, not a Jetpack setting. Is that setting being reset every time Jetpack gets disconnected?

Note that Jetpack shouldn’t be getting disconnected regularly. It looks like there may be some rate limiting on your server, causing 403 errors when we try to connect via your site’s xmlrpc.php file.

I’d suggest contacting your hosting provider and ask them to check their security logs for any blocked requests to the /wordpress/xmlrpc.php file on your site, using the Jetpack by WordPress.com user agent.

If they only offer XML-RPC access by whitelisting IP addresses, then they will need to whitelist the IP addresses listed here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/#jetpack

Please note that these IP addresses could change (or more could be added) at any time. For that reason, we recommend your host uses the machine-readable versions of these IP ranges in JSON or plain text format to automate configuration changes on their systems.

    Hi Dan

I will let my hosting provider as you suggest.

I am still confused about this:
Settings > Reading: ‘For each post in a feed, include:’

This is what I see on this screen:

    Hi @elirab

Based on your previous comments, you will want to select the “Full text” option next to “For each post in a feed, include.”

    Here’s a screenshot showing it:

    https://d.pr/i/nTYA0x

This will then send out your posts as full text rather than as excerpts.

    (@elirab)

Thanks – I have had that set as you indicate, but

but my homepage is set on latest post, not static page

    I have a warning:
Warning: these pages should not be the same as your Privacy Policy page!

It IS set to Full Page.

Is there a way I can send you a screen save?

    Thanks

My apologies for any confusion my screenshot may have caused. Having your homepage set to your latest posts instead of a static page won’t affect the “For each feed in a post, include” setting.

You can share a screenshot with us by uploading it to a third-party service like Snipboard.io, Droplr, or CloudApp.

You can post the link here, and we’ll look at the error that you are receiving.
