I’m changing back from a site I had made for me to one I had before, hence the “old” in the url.

However, a problem I had with the site (and is still there) is that when I changed from an earlier theme, the pages in the original theme are still there on the desktop. The “old” site for the most part works well, but it doesn’t show up in appearance. Compare old.rememberroad.com to old.rememberroad.com/home.

I’ve changed themes with a different site and didn’t have this problem. What did I do wrong, or didn’t do, and what do I do to make it right?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m not sure what you mean by “the old site” not showing up in “appearance”. Are you talking about the theme not being listed under Appearance in the dashboard, or are you not seeing the theme/design on the public website?

For what it’s worth, when I visit the two URLs you gave above, I see the same “Sinatra” theme and basic design on both pages, as shown below.

Thanks for the prompt response. I guess the problem is in site menu under appearance. The first screen capture you posted is the actual front page of the site. The second is the sample front page that somehow has my sidebar attached. It has nothing to do with my actual site.

I made a screen capture of the dashboard showing the menu (under Appearance) but I can’t see how to attach it. Anyway, under Menu Structure, Menu name is “birch-main-demo-navigation”. The first item under that is “Home” with “Homepage Option 3” and “Homepage Option Unlimited” as child(?) items under that. None of those, as well as most of the items below that have anything to do with my actual site.

I’m not sure what to do at this point, or even where to look to look up the answer.

Again, I’d like to attach a screen shot but I don’t see/know how to do it.

The sidebar is attached to ALL pages of the site by default, by the theme author’s design — unless you specifically configure it otherwise.

If you don’t need any particular page (like this “sample” page with dummy text), you should delete it completely.

The forum doesn’t support attachments natively, but you can upload your screenshot to any public site (like https://snipboard.io) and embed or drop the link here.

You probably, perhaps inadvertently, imported some demo content when you installed the theme (or perhaps from some plugin).

But it’s your site and you have full control of what should be on the site. Simple delete any post, page, or menu item that you don’t want on the site anymore (whether you created it or not).

Note that for the menu to actually appear on the live (public) website, you’ll need to assign the “Menu Structure” to a menu location (check “Primary Navigation” under “Menu Settings”, at the bottom of the “Menu Structure” screen).

Thanks, George. I know enough FaceBook to be dangerous…but only to myself.

I have a better idea what I can do now. I know that to more experienced/knowledgeable people, this sounds simplistic, but when something’s working, you don’t want to break it.:-)

    Thanks again.
