    the site has 2 languages.

i’m using Premium Blog to query a category in main language. the category (and its posts) is translated in the second language.

using Polylang Connect for Elementor, i was able to translate the page with the Premium Blog into the second language, and i find all correctly duplicated.

when i go to change the query to pick the translated category, i only see categories in main language.

    could you please help?

    Hi @maxgx

    Hope you’re having a great day ??

Could you please provide a screenshot or a recording showing the issue? This would greatly help us to reproduce and resolve the issue.

    sure @leap13

this shows the language settings: https://ibb.co/d2F0rGW

and this shows a list of categories in main language in the query settings: https://ibb.co/bBxn4cK

i see you have probably solved the issue a few months ago for another user, could you share the solution here please?

    Hi @maxgx

Hope you’re doing well today ??

We are currently trying to reproduce the issue on our end. So, may I ask by “change the query to pick the translated category” – do you mean on the editor page to filter posts by category?

to reproduce the issue, please follow these steps:

    1) have a few posts attached to a category in main language

    2) create a page with Elementor, then use your own Premium Blog widget to show a grid (whatever style) – set the query to pick Posts and target the category above

    3) translate category and posts using Polylang

    4) translate page using Polylang, now try to edit the Premium Blog to target the translated category (this answers your question above)

furthermore, links to the screenshots you requested are available above but will expire in a day or so.

    Hi @maxgx

Well, as you mentioned above, this is the exact issue we are having here

I’m so sorry, but unfortunately, this issue is related to Polylang plugin itself. We have tried some other blog widget, the same issue happens.

Premium Blog widget actually doesn’t pull posts in a specific language. This is handled by the translation plugin. It should detect that page language is changed and show categories, posts and any other taxonomies based on the changed language.

So, we suggest contacting their support team so they can check and let us know if we are doing something wrong or missing something here.

    Thanks for your understanding ??

sorry @leap13 but i really think you should investigate the issue a bit more in depth (not mine in particular, but the compatibility between Premium Addons and Polylang in general).

i’ve just done a quick test using Elementor’s own Post widget:

    1) i have a category in main language with a few posts – the category is translated in a second language, so are the attached posts

    2) i’ve created a page in main language, added Elementor Post widget and targeted such category (Elementor calls it “Term” – typing the first 3 letters, it autosuggests the right category)

    3) i translated the above page, edited the Elementor Post widget to change the “Term” and typing the first 3 letters it autosuggests the correct translated category, and the posts appearing are the ones in second language

so it seems that Elementor itself is perfectly compatible with Polylang, right “out of the box”. i don’t understand why, in the case of your Premium Addons, it should instead be a problem that Polylang should solve…

anyhow, too much time has passed and i don’t think i’ll have much success bringing your case up with Polylang support. i think i’m going to review usage of Premium Addons throughout the site instead and consider @atickettotakeoff approach, replacing the plugin if necessary.

unfortunately, until WordPress does not finally come with a solution in its core, translation plugins will have priority over extensions in multilanguage sites.

but thanks for your time, hope you will want to consider digging more into why Premium Addons is not compatible with Polylang (and i suspect other translation plugins).

    Hi @maxgx

First of all, let me apologize for any inconvenience you are having with Premium Blog widget. I totally understand your point and we will do our best to help you get this resolved ASAP.

I’ve addressed this to our devs team, set its priority to highest and they are currently trying to reproduce the issue.

So, could you please check the scenario below and let me know if you are having the same thing?

    – We created two categories, one in the original language, another one in the 2nd language.
    – We created a post in the first language, then translating it into the 2nd language.
    – Now, we created a page in the first language, everything seems to be working fine and the categories are loaded.
    – Finally, when we tried to translate that page into the 2nd language, we got the categories from the first language. BUT, once we refresh the editor page, the valid categories were loaded properly.

So, may I ask did you try to refresh the editor page after adding the blog widget into the translated version?

    Regards

    hi @leap13

i tried once again, reloaded many times, but categories shown are always the ones in main language.

however, i then checked the translated page in frontend, and indeed the posts shown by your widget are the right ones in second language.

i then tried opening and reloading the page several times more but nothing changes.

so, in admin, your widget shows the category in main language, but in frontend it seems to be working, pulling the translated posts from the translated category.

    Hi @maxgx

May I ask did you try to check with all plugins deactivated except Elementor and Premium Addons itself?
