• I am managing my categories and when trying to change the name & category parent and then pressing “edit” as I did with several other categories with success.. I get an error message “Category not updated”.

    I tried looking up the issue, and the only thing I found is to make sure the name and slug are unique (which they are) and they are not default categories, they are ones that were made by us.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – repairing your database?

    I haven’t tried anything yet, thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into it ??

    I encountered the same problem when I tried to change a category name on my hosted WordPress blog.

    The error stopped when I changed the name of the category only and left the ‘slug’ the same as it was originally.
