• My theme name in the metadata is defined in style.css as

    Theme Name: No Contrast

    Theme Name: Lap of Luxury

But when I refresh the page in “manage themes” the theme name doesn’t update. Instead it says

    no-contrast

    lapofluxury

    Why?

    I’m using wordpress 5.7.2

  • When WordPress checks with the repository for updates to themes and plugins, it actually doesn’t use their names, but their slugs.
As an example, the theme “Twenty Twenty-One” uses the slug “twentytwentyone” (i.e. the theme’s directory in your WordPress file structure is (probably) /wp-content/themes/twentytwentyone/ )

Also note that the repository for themes and plugins at www.ads-software.com only contains free software that is hosted here. There are ways for commercial software to “hook into” the update functionality, but it’s quite possible that your best way of updating a commercial theme would be to get an updated zip file from the developer and then upload it to your WordPress via “Upload new theme/Upload new plugin” – if the slug coincides with a plugin or theme you’ve already got, then it will be updated for you.

    Hmm.
    Perhaps I misunderstood your question.
Do your themes have a complete “theme header”? See https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/basics/main-stylesheet-style-css/

The theme is running on localhost so it’s not in the wordpress theme directory.

What I mean is that the I’m working on is not in the theme directory so there is no repository to check.

I checked the link you gave me and my theme header or style.css metadata is correct and in full.
