Struggling with installing website on blank database

Hi @macmanx , I followed this tutorial and followed the link that was a part of that post here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/creating-database-for-wordpress/
I followed all the instructions yet I still have an empty database. Do you think that it is worth perhaps trying a differetn database creator?

As long as the database exists, proceed to the next step. Running the WordPress installer, which populates the database, is the last step of the whole installation procedure.

Hi @macmanx just thought I’d say a big thank you so far for helping me with this, it’s really appreciated. Well when one issue gets solved another one seems to come up. I went to install the WordPress on the blank database but now it’s giving me a new error message. I’ve attached a link here: https://gyazo.com/155fc4cfccee15b711f776e71eb6ceed
I’m 100% sure that I’m inputting the right username and password, so I have absolutely no idea why its giving me this error.

How exactly are you seeing that error message? That’s not from WordPress.

Oh sorry @macmanx that was from FileZilla, it wouldn’t let me connect to put the files in. That’s the first time I’ve ever had that issue.

I’m absolutely stumped to be honest it’s so annoying not having access to the actual server it’s hosted off.

Ok, so that means you don’t have the right password to connect with the server via FTP, which is absolutely required to install WordPress.

You’ll need to contact the hosting provider’s support, or check their documentation, for assistance with that.

@macmanx Hi mate, so I realised I was being an idiot and using the database user details and it wasn’t working. So I switched to the original ones and I’m on the filezilla and dragged all of the files from the WordPress folder into the root directory. After dragging the files to the server, you need to run the installer script: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/how-to-install-wordpress/#step-5-run-the-install-script

If that doesn’t work, the files may not have have been uploaded to the root web directory. This is typically /public_html/ but can vary depending on the hosting provider, so check their documentation for specifics: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/how-to-install-wordpress/#step-4-upload-the-files

If you have recently migrating your website from SiteGround to cPanel based hosting, almost all web hosting providers, offer free migration. You can simply ask your web hosting provider to migrate your website from SiteGround, or if your website backup is downloaded on your computer, then simply upload the backup file on your website via FTP and ask your provider to restore the backup.

Also, for database be sure you are using same username and database name for your new installation. However, your best option will be contact your hosting provider and describe the issue.
