    Hello,

    Thanks for the feedback.
As far as I can tell, the update installs properly despite the error message, so it should not affect the backup functionality.
If you are not comfortable, you can download the previous version from here:
    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/backwpup.3.8.0.zip
But I don’t think this is necessary. We will take care of this as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

That wasn’t the case for me, this error prevented the update from taking. I do appreciate the quick response @niklasinpsyde, I’ll hang tight.

in case you got an issue with the plugin update( there is an error reported from WP we noticed that) but please don’t worry, just reload the site and it’s should working just fine, if it not, please remove the plugin using your cPanel or uninstall the old version 3.8 first then install the new one(3.9)

(you can keep your BackWPUp jobs and all configuration by going to BackWPUp -> Settings -> General tab -> enable Keep BackWPup data stored in the database after uninstall)

Thank you so much for all of your help and we really sorry about the issue caused!

    Hi,

I noticed you worked on the issue recently, just wanted to let you know that now the error during an upgrade is:

Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method Inpsyde\BackWPup\Notice\PromoterMessage::defaults() in /wp-content/plugins/backwpup/inc/Notice/PromoterUpdater.php:35

Maybe you already work on that, but just in case you are not aware of it ??

    Best,
    Florian

    Hi @florianbrinkmann, @jcanepa,

Thanks, the problem should be resolved now.
Updating to version 3.9.0 from the plugins page no longer causes any errors.
In any case, the error that appeared before should not have any negative impact and basically looked worse than it was.
But if any questions remain, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi @niklasinpsyde,

yes, worked now without the error, thanks!

    Best,
    Florian
