• I’ve just installed a copy of wordpress 1.5, and I’m quite curious what exactly does the Markdown or Textile 1 plugins do? I’ve tried following the links, but can’t quite make much sense of it.

Would I like to have one, or the other, turned on right now?
How do i use it, why would i want to, and which should I choose?

Should I just leave it off for now, and turn it on later, or would I be better of turning either on right from the start?

  • They’re sort of like BBCode (if that helps). I.e. You write things like [b]bold[/b] and it displays as bold*. If you’re going to use either one; it’s probably best to start using it right away otherwise you might run into problems later with older posts not showing up after turning on the plugin.

    * Note: I don’t use either plugin; so I don’t know the syntax they actually use, but hopefully this gives you an idea of what these would be for.

just use html controls. Thats what the lil buttons above the post area are for.
