Greetings,

Oddly enough, no amount of searching has revealed the cryptic meaning of “microformat” in connection with WP themes.

Other mysterious terms are “buddypress” and “editor-style.”

Can anyone please tell me what these mean? Would love to see examples if you know of any.

Also, I originally posted this as “Re: Templates etc.” then changed it to themes. What is a “template” as distinct from a “theme?”

Other mystery terms:

– post slug (a slimy critter on a pole?)
– permalink

Sorry, I was just coming from a pair of wise ass threads when I got here to make this post. Should not assume guilt by association.

That said, the time it must have taken you for the “wise ass answer” above is not a little scary . . . and does no one maintain this codex glossary, such that a term like microformat is not in it ?

Eh. It’s not a WordPress term, really so it’s one of those points where I’d argue it’s NOT WordPress’ job to be master of universe and explainer of everything.

I’m using Artisteer for my themes. How can I tell if an artisteer theme supports microformats or not? What is required to support microformats or how does this work?
