The behavior currently is such that a download button shortcode links you to the page mysite.com/downloads/<slug>, where is shows info about the download and yet another download button. I do not need this extra step. How can I make the [download] shortcode display a button to download the file immediately?

  • Hello @henry321 ,

Actually that is the default behavior, when clicking on the “Download” button set by the [download] shortcode to directly download your file. Could you please give a link to your page where you have set the [download] shortcode so we can have a look at what is going on?

    Best Regards!

Sorry for the late reply. I’ve now set up a public staging site to test this. Unfortunately, I am still unable to achieve the behavior you describe.

Here is a link to a test page: https://www.ecmco.org/test-dl-page/
I would like to immediately start downloading a file when the user clicks the button on this page. Instead, in this example, they are taken to https://www.ecmco.org/download/noxcant-brochure/

    Hi @henry321,

I just went to that page and tried both download buttons and both will directly download the file, it does not take me to another page.
Is the issue still happening on your end? Can you please let me know what browser are you using?

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

I am using Firefox. I did try another browser now that you mentioned it, and it seems to work. I went back to Firefox, cleared all cache/history/etc, and disabled plugins, and now it’s working fine. I’m not sure what caused such odd behavior previously. However, I will mark this as resolved. Thanks!
