Administration Email Address – email not sending

I have tried to update the Admin email address and when I add the email address that I want it to be updated to, I get this message:
there is a pending change of the admin email to [ email deleted, don’t post those ]
The issue is I never get the email to confirm this change. I’ve tested with 2 separate emails and nothing has happened. I’ve contacted my IT team who can’t do anything about this.
Has anyone else run into this issue/solved it?
