ACF field related to articles is broken in Elementor since ACF Frontend 2.10.15

Here is the behavior in video

1) ACF FE 2.10.12, everything work and ACF fields (post content, date & excerpt) accessible in Elementor, and article content is well displayed.
2) upgrade ACF FE to 2.10.15 (or above) breaks Element access to ACF fields (content & excerpt keys are not usable anymore)

=> Elementor & ACF teams both confirmed the issue may come from ACF Frontend… would appreciate a feedback & though on my issue, which may hide bigger things in the plugin.

I am sad to hear about these issues. It seems that the issue @msevestre is experiencing is different than what @nadworks is talking about. So let’s address them one by one:

@msevestre are you still experiencing this issue in the latest version, 2.11.5/2.11.8?

@nadworks I can suggest something that might help. We have made changes in the plugin code recently that improve the user experience and ease of use. We set up mechanisms to make sure users like you don’t experience issues due to these changes, but unfortunately a few have. I suggest copying and pasting the whole widget and then deleting the original one. This should reset the entire widget and all the settings and hopefully, it should all work as normal. Sorry for the inconvenience that this might have caused.

thanks for your reply.

I just gave a try to 2.11.8 (by manual installation, as not proposed by WordPress backoffice) and issue is still there, as it was also there with 2.11.5.

I checked with every intermediate version since 2.10.12: issue started from 2.10.15 with no change since then.

Hi all

to keep track of it and provide help if anyone face the issue, the issue was coming from a change after 2.10.10 made on ACF Frontend while using an Elementor-based template :

* For my post content, I was using the Content/Content editor item in ACF & the toggle to set the content editor content as post content.
* For my post excerpt, I was using the Basic/Text Area item in ACF & the toggle to set the content as excerpt content.
* My Elementor template was using the dynamic field feature of Element Pro to link with the ACF fields.

Both “set as…” toggles disappeared in ACF Frontend versions after 2.10.10, while ACF Frontend introduced some new ACF “Post” categories (including Excerpt and Content that I am using).

Changing my Elementor template to use Post Content and Post Excerpt objects instead of the two listed above solved the issue.

Such a major change should have been obvious for ACF frontend team, as well as for the related troubleshooting.

I had to manage this on my own and switching to pro did not bring more support… sad.
