AMP Problem with Facebook Mobile Browser

This is a very unusual issue, Can you please share your site health information along with the following information using this form so we can debug this further.

Please activate the AMP plugin for few days so we can debug this issue.

Please share the following information too

1) AMP page URL (the direct URL to AMP page)
2) Facebook post link (where the issue is reproducible )
3) Mobile Make and Model
4) Mobile OS and its version
5) Facebook App Version

I completed the form,

The amp plugin is active, i was sending all mobile traffic through the amp version, but now i’ve enabled a mobile theme for Facebook users, if you visit a amp version from google it works like it should

2)You have to visit a link from our facebook page through FB App. Unfortunately it’s a live site, i cannot leave it on but i have two video samples

This one is with all mobile pages redirected to AMP

3) I have tried from Xiaomi, Oneplus and Samsung Phones,(Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T 5G, Galaxy Note 10, Oneplus9)

4)Android 10 and Android 11.

5)FB Version 323.0.0.46.119 the last available, no update on Google Play store.

From what i know https://www.facebook.com/meteotoscana.it this one has the same problem, also this one https://www.facebook.com/groups/157859338147555

Thanks for site info and screenshots and recordings, I suspect the Facebook browser may be blocking the redirect so it won’t be misused, ( like those ad pages which keep on forwarding you to next ads)

but to confirm I have contacted the Facebook app team via email, I will keep you updated here.

for now, I will recommend disabling the mobile redirect from AMP plugin settings.

The issue is definitely related to Facebook App, please report it to Facebook Support or Follow this bug report to get latest updates

for now, I will recommend posting the AMP URL in the Facebook post or disabling the Mobile redirect.

Please download and install this mini plugin which disables mobile redirection only for facebook’s in-app browser, let me know if you run into issues

I face exactly the same issue in my website Armyvoice.gr

Follow the following steps

1) Goto Github Repo

2) Click the Green button and Select “Download as Zip” (screenshot)

3) You will notice the plugin is downloaded.

4) log in to your WordPress site as an administrator

5) Goto Plugins -> Add New -> Upload plugins (screenshot)

6) Click on Choose files and select amp-facebook-fix-main.zip file from your computer which we downloaded earlier in 3) (screenshot)

7) Click the “Install Now” button and then click the “activate plugin” button.

My mini plugin doesn’t fix the issue, it just turns off mobile redirect based on Facebook in-App user agent, but as my colleague pointed out it may not work very well when page caching is used.

so for now, I will recommend turning off mobile redirection from AMP plugin settings. OR sharing AMP URL directly on your Facebook page.

As per the latest update from the reported bug, the Facebook Devs are aware of the bug and may soon release a fix for the same.

@xxxlesy @papp0us @ioanna It looks like the Facebook bug has now been resolved. Can you perform another check on your side after deactivating the temporary plugin fix provided above?
