Add a New Layer of Posts, Possible?

Hey,
I am really pleased with my blog right now and its layout, but I want to add a second “style” of posts below the current ones. I created a mockup picture which can be seen hear – this is what I want to do : (https://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8770/mock22.jpg)

Basically I want to display select posts differently only on the homepage. Basically having two themes in succession on the same page.

Is this possible?
