Changed permalink structure. Need help to redirect old urls

Thanks but I already visited those pages before posting here. I am not able to figure out the .htaccess code needed and the Yoast permalink generator code RedirectMatch 301 ^/([^/]+)/([0-9]{4})/([0-9]{2})/([^/]+)/$ https://www.site.com/$4″ seems to cause redirect chain issue.

I would like to know how to correct this code RedirectMatch 301 ^/([^/]+)/([0-9]{4})/([0-9]{2})/([^/]+)/$ so I can insert in my htaccess file. Thanks.

Redirection is not an .htaccess code generator. You use it to do the job for you so you don’t need to handle codes. For example, by using the permalink migration feature.

If you need general .htaccess support then a more general support forum is probably the best place.

The redirection plugin is working is redirecting some urls but not all. Any idea how this can be solved?

Is this a different question to the original one? If so, can you provide some more details?

I wanted to redirect all the old urls to the new without a plugin but since that isn’t an option, I installed and activated the redirect plugin.

I put in the old permalink structure “/%category%/%year%/%day%/%postname%/” so all the urls can be forwarded to the new one but not all urls are being forwarded. There are a lot of old urls that are show the 404 error code. Please advise.

Where did you put in the old permalink structure? What URLs aren’t working?

There are no pattern to links that are not migrating. The site has 20k pages. I can see 100s of urls in 404 error log. When I visit these old links they are giving a 404 error instead of forwarding to the new url.

Ok, but can you give an example of one so I can look? As it states, the feature is in beta, and there are situations it may not handle. If I can see some of the URLs that aren’t working then I can see what the situation is.

It looks like those pages are cached by Cloudflare. You will need to clear the cache. For example:

https://www.techshout.com/mobile-phones/2021/15/new-blackberry-smartphones-are-coming-in-2021/ doesn’t work

https://www.techshout.com/mobile-phones/2021/15/new-blackberry-smartphones-are-coming-in-2021/?1 does work

I don’t know why those URLs are 404s. I would start by looking at what else is running on your site as it can, like above, affect things.
