Form Submitted without Required Field

    Hi,

    One of our payment forms has just been submitted without one of the required fields filled in, and I am not sure how this has happened. Essentially, a customer must choose which gift voucher they want to purchase, and they have the option of paying extra (￡2.25) for a posted copy of their voucher.

    We have just received a form submission where the customer has only paid ￡2.25 for the postage, but has not specified or been charged for a voucher!

    I have checked our form and:

    – “Your Voucher” (radio 1) is a required field
    – “Would you like a printed voucher posted to you” (radio 2) is optional
    – “Total Price” calculation is set to {radio-1}+{radio-2}
    – Stripe field is set to “Variable” taking the figure from “Total Price”

    I will have to telephone our customer today to explain the problem, find out what voucher they want and charge them the difference over the phone, but I’d like to know why this might have happened and if there is anything I need to do to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

    Sorry to know that you are having an issue.

    I checked this on a test form but was unable to replicate the issue.

    Can you please export the form and share it with us so that we can take a closer look at how the form is configured? Please share the form using Google Drive or DropBox, please make sure the URL is publically accessible.

    Thank you for providing this information.

    I’ve made several attempts to try and replicate this with your form, but no luck so far. Every time I try to submit after entering credit card info, it will let me know that I still need to select voucher field option: https://snipboard.io/oilsf8.jpg

    I’m not sure what might have caused this initially. Perhaps a glitch with network connection or something else that occurred during this specific time. The user you mentioned is the only case so far, or has there been other reports about similar behavior?

    Hi,

    Thank you for this – no, I couldn’t replicate it either!! So probably just an odd glitch, as you say. This is a brand new website to us so this is the first time this has happened, if it happens again we will report it accordingly. Thank you for checking it for us though!

    It happened again today for the third time, despite everything we’ve tried to correct it, so clearly still not resolved. I deleted the form and re-wrote it. Will just have to wait and see if it happens again!

    The shared form was in 1.14.11, we released the 1.14.12.1 had you updated the plugin?

    Hi,

    I wrote it to be exactly the same as the previous form. I have just updated forminator with the most recent available. We are basically now waiting to see if the issue happens again since I re-wrote the form! I just need someone to buy a voucher for a children’s experience and request a posted copy…!

    We still haven’t been able to replicate the issue ourselves so I do wonder if it is related to specific (older?) internet browsers.

    Hi,

    It’s happened again. This is the fourth time the form has been submitted without the required field and without charging our customer for their voucher (instead, it is just taking payment for the postage). This is since I re-wrote the form and updated to the latest version of forminator. “Your Voucher” is a required field. “Printed copy” was optional. Calculation for Stripe is {radio-1}+{radio-2}. It only seems to be happening on the Children’s Bird Handling Experiences. I still cannot replicate the error. I do not understand why this keeps happening.

    We have lost patience with it and removed the option to have a printed voucher for now – it is awful having to ring customers to explain there has been an error with the website and to ask them for payment of the balance for their voucher. We are now instead asking customers to telephone us if they want printed vouchers, and we will process their payments over the telephone. This is inconvenient for us and our customers, as it means they cannot buy printed vouchers outside of our office hours.

    Is anyone able to explain how the forms are being submitted without a REQUIRED field and how to fix it?
