• I’m looking into WP3.0 as a solution. I’ve got a couple hundred websites, each of which is run by a chapter of our organization. I want to give each an install of WP.

One requirement is that all of the chapter websites can “share” content with one another. So if I think a Post is of interest to others, I want to be able to mark it “share” and have it go into every other websites saved as a draft (not published). Eventually, we’d like an ability to share with individual chapter websites, as well, not just “all of them” at once.

Does that sound like something this plugin can be used for? Any thoughts on how to accomplish this? Very much appreciated as I try to figure out whether WP is a viable option for us.

Each website has its own separate domain.

  • i am trying to solve this exact same issue; we publish several magazines and each one needs to have its own domain.

i have been able to figure out how to use wordpress 3.0 and install it with all the multisite options, mapping subdomains to give each of our magazine websites a unique wordpress instance that is all managed under one, “superadmin” account; so that all went great.

now what i need to do is figure out how to “post” an article to more than one website; or as you suggested post and article and then push it out to the others as a draft so those website editors in those areas can decide if they want to publish that article on their own site.

i wonder if there’s a plugin out there for this? that’d be awesome.

    Yep.. us too.

We have 2 sites that need to share content. I thought about using a plugin called “FeedWordPress”

This might be OK for you guys, basically, have FeedWordPress on the “sister” sites, pointing at the RSS feed of the “main” site, so that when you post blog/news/whatever FeedWordPress picks it up and creates a new post on the “sister” sites…

The probelm we got is that we are “federating”… IE, sharing news, from one site to the other and vice versa. The issue with using FeedWordPress is that once it posts news, its regarded as new content, and the other site then picks it up and posts it again, and vice versa, then you get stuck in a news loop and it forever posts the same artical over and over untill someone stops it.

Sooo. A content sharing plugin would be nice…. a plugin that tweeks the code to share the same “blog” and “User” MySQL database entry maybe.
