    Hello,

today I updated WordPress on my site to version 5.8. After that I can’t edit or created new post. I receive an error screen, where I can only copy an error message:

TypeError: a.media is not a function

I disabled all plugins except YOAST and still get the error.

When I disable YOAST everything works great.

    Hi @fromgate

Can you check if you are using the latest version of Yoast SEO v16.7, the most up-to-date version of the rest of your plugins and themes, and are meeting the necessary plugin requirements?

Could you also check if you are able to disable all non-Yoast plugins and just use a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty and see if you are still able to reproduce this error?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

    I use Yoast SEO 16.7.

I disabled all plugins and switched to standart theme. All works, but when I enable Yoast SEO plugin — I receive errors.

    Same when I use HealthCheck.

Before WordPress update everything worked fine.

I found another problem with Yoast SEO.
When I open any configuration page, all tabs are empty. There’s only “Save changes” button.

We understand that it can be frustrating when everything is confirmed, but you are still having issues. We’d be happy to explore the issue further.

Could you please go to your admin Tools > Site Health >> Info(tab) and click Server and paste the system info here?

Currently I find solution for myself. I installed JQuary Migrate Helper plugin and configure to use old JQuery version — 1.12.4-wp.
Now Yoast SEO works fine, and post editor works fine too.

But as I understand it’s not a good solution. And if you can suggest something it will be very helpful:

    Here’s system info:

    Server architecture	Linux 5.4.0-77-generic x86_64
    Web server	Apache/2.4.48 (Ubuntu) mod_fcgid/2.3.9 OpenSSL/1.1.1f
PHP version	7.4.21 (Supports 64bit values)
    PHP SAPI	fpm-fcgi
    PHP max input variables	1000
    PHP time limit	30
    PHP memory limit	256M
    Max input time	60
    Upload max filesize	2M
    PHP post max size	8M
    cURL version	7.68.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1f
    Is SUHOSIN installed?	No
Is the Imagick library available?	Yes
    Are pretty permalinks supported?	Yes

    Hi @fromgate

We understand you’ve installed and activated the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin and this has temporarily resolved the issue.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reproduce the issue with a test site with WP 5.8, the TwentyTwenty WP theme, and only Yoast SEO v16.7 as the only plugin enabled. Both when editing a page as well as checking the SEO menu settings were working as expected, without any error messages.

Since you mentioned that this issue also occurs when you enable the Health Check plugin, we can’t say if this is exactly an issue with the Yoast SEO plugin, or something that needs configuration on your WordPress setup. Just to clarify, whenever you enable ANY plugin, you are able to reproduce this issue when trying to edit or create a post?

    I disabled all plugins except Yoast SEO — I can’t edit/create posts (and I Yoast’s settings tabs doesn’t work).
I enabled all plugins except Yoast SEO — everything works fine
I disabled one by one all plugins and problem persisted until I disable Yoast (It was last disabled plugin).

And I have two other sites (with more plugins) where Yoast SEO works fine after update. I can’t reproduce problem too (((

Yoast SEO updated, and it look like v16.8 solve the problem. Thank you!
