“Skip email verification for the selected user roles” not working: v1.4

Hi,
After updating the plugin to version 1.4 (I’m using the free version) today, email verification stopped working. I traced the problem to the “Skip email verification for the selected user roles”. When I clear that option, email verification works fine, but as soon as I select any user role to skip verification, the email verification stops working; new accounts are accessible without verification. The verification code and link are not sent with the welcome email, even though that’s how I set it up.

I have tested with only your plugin and WooCommerce activated.
