After the recent OceanWP update my skip links stopped working. I’m using the Elementor Themebuilder headers for site navigation. And my skip links don’t jump over them like they used to before the update. All scripts are disabled in the theme panel.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

Please go to Theme Panel > Scripts & styles, disable all the files click on the save button, now enable all the files, and click on the save button a couple of times, and check.

PS- make sure to enable all the scripts & styles files.

Hi Abhishek, Thanks. I tried what you suggested and it did not work. It still does not skip over the Elementor headers. Thoughts? Anyone?

Seems to me some script that handles anchor links like smooth scrolling.

FYI. I’m now using the skip link from the WP Accessibility plugin and hiding the OceanWP skip link. As the WP accessibility skip link currently works. But OceanWP should look into why theirs doesn’t work. Thanks.

Smooth scroll routinely breaks in-page links. A lot of smooth-scrolling scripts only animate the position of the viewport, and don’t change the actual location of focus. As a result, they break skip to content links and all other in-page links for keyboard and screen-reader users.

WP Accessibility likely still works because it’s inserting the in-page link via scripting, and changing the DOM after the smooth scroll script has already captured other in-page links.

Hi Joe, I suspected as much. I wish themes and plugins would include a remove smooth scrolling option or be better at changing the location of focus. Thanks for the WP Accessibility plugin and using a script that works!

    Hello @alframartini @joedolson ,

I apologize for the trouble and delay in response, I missed it by accident.

Pardon, but Are you facing Skip to content link on the backend (when viewing wp-admin area) or on the front end only?

Please try to switch to the parent theme and check.

If you still experiencing the issue, I would request you to please create a staging site open a ticket at the helpdesk for a closer look into the issue.

I will also pass this to the concerned dev team to look into it.
