Hi @prinzwp,
I have installed Filebird and Real Media Library free versions and tested them with EML. The problem is that it’s not only the right sidebar issue, there are a lot of incompatibilities of different degrees like the impossibility to add media files selected with EML in bulk to a folder.
Fixing that will take time. And honestly, I don’t see any future for the plugins together. They share some duplicating functionality which is an endless source of trouble. That said, the approach quite differs, EML sticks to the concept of WP taxonomies for media categorizing, other plugins use their own entities – folders.
As I can see, the major advantage of the FB and RML is dynamic editing for the folders in the same window as for the media library.
I have plans for EML’s development. And editing media categories and files in one window, advanced filtering, search, etc. included in these plans in the first place. I have a limited amount of time, and I prefer to spend it on developing the EML itself.
Anyway, I am not going to limit my customers in using any media plugin they’d wish. So, as a solution, I am now pondering on an idea to add a specific EML media library page that will not extend WP’s inbuilt media library technically, so I will be able to suggest to my customers an option of showing both WP native ML and EML. That way in WP native ML any other media plugin will perfectly work.
Best,
-Nadia
