Migration is not as easy as they claim
-
Started the migration using the SG migrator plugin which siteground consistently state: “The process is very straightforward and easy to follow.”
I’ve been at it for an hour now. 20 minutes were spent hacking around the siteground web site trying to find how to contact someone who can help (I went with siteground as their support is supposed to be great, they might be if its possible to find a support person). Anyway, once I found the chat function a support person was there within seconds (pretty good), they checked out the progress of my migration at their end and advised that I needed to contact my existing host provider to get them to change my current site IP and Name Servers. I asked what was wrong with my migration which meant this had to be done. The support person said nothing, its standard for all migrations using their SG migrator plugin. They don’t tell you this when you start, just that its easy. Anyway, I’ve raised a support ticket with my current hosting provider to ask them to change the details (hopefully free of charge), which I guess will now be sometime tomorrow also leaving me in complete uncertainty about what hurdles and pitfalls I’m going to encounter next that siteground haven’t told me about. Shame on you siteground for false marketing of your service.
