Issues with access array offset on value of type null in excerpt.php

  • I encounter the following error message within wordpress:
    (my translation to english:)

    Update failed. The answer is no valid JSON-answer.

    It occurs when saving a page.

    I already disabled all plugins, reinstalled my WordPress-Version (5.8), and tried to track down to the root cause. After removing some parts of the page it saved, but after adding some mere letters, the error appeared again.

    After activating debug-log level, I get the following messages in the debug-log:

    PHP Notice: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /wp-content/themes/polite/templatesell/filters/excerpt.php on line 29

    Could you pls help me with that, to find out, what causes the issue?
