• The error it caused said this:

This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed

When trying to insert Classic Paragraph block into a Widget Area (i.e. Left Sidebar, Footer 1, etc), it causes the above error.

There is no issue when using the same block in a WordPress post or page block editor, it only errs when trying to insert it into the widget area using the new widget blocks.

I have no idea why WordPress would not already provide that Classic Paragraph block by default. Anyway…

    — Testing —
Deactivated all plugins except the Advanced Editor Tools plugin.
Used a WordPress default theme, “Twenty-nineteen”.
Cleared the server and browser cache.
    Issue still occurs.

The issue only exists with this specific block (Classic Paragraph).

    Any suggestions?

  • There actually is a problem in the block editor in 5.8.1. When you try to change from paragraph to classic paragraph, you cannot select or change to Classic Paragraph.
