Random Image Script (Matt Mullenweg) applied to Sidebar in Tarski not working

Hello there. I recently implemented the Matt Mullenweg random image script on my website, rarerborealis.com. I placed the file, named ‘rotate.php’ in a folder called ‘random-image’ located in my ‘plugins’ folder.

I then put a ‘text’ widget in my sidebar with the code:

<img src=”https://rarerborealis.com/wordpressblog/wp-content/plugins/random-image/rotate.php&#8221; alt=”ooh la la”>.

If I replace ‘rotate.php’ with any of the images in the folder it shows up just fine. I can’t figure out why the php code won’t work, particularly as it says if you place it in the same folder as the images it requires no editing at all (I placed it in as-is with no changes). Any thoughts?
