Three strange bugs with new version of WP driving me crazy

  • I am pulling my hair out having to deal with these bugs in the ‘new’ major release of WP. I don’t know how this would even get past testing, but it is making my work harder and taking longer.

    1) Sometimes when I tried to select & format text in a block using the mouse and shift key, the selection changes from the text to just an outline around the block itself, and then I can’t edit the text. It never did this with the old version.

    The work around is for me to change the block style to something else, like ‘heading’, and then back to ‘paragraph’. and it will reset, but then I have to use only the keyboard to select the text. If I try to create a selection using the mouse and shift key, then the bug reoccurs much of the time.

    Is there any fix or work around for this?

    2) Unable to copy multiple blocks every time. Sometimes this works fine. Other times, it just fails. I am unable to use the mouse to select multiple blocks. This is something I do quite a bit. The only realistic work around for this is to go into phpmyadmin and copy the raw code, which is a pain, to say the least.

    This was also not a problem with the old WP version. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    3) Duplicate typing issue. I don’t even know what to call this bug. It happens rarely, but the only way I’ve found to fix it is to leave the editor and return.

    What happens is, a multi block will get selected somehow, and then when I type text on one line, it will be duplicated in real time on a 2nd line right next to it.

    Is this some kind feature that I accidentally turned on? Again, the only way I’ve fixed this so far is to exit the editor and return.

    So these 3 bugs are wasting a chunk of my time which I don’t have. I really need these to go away. The inability to copy large #’s of blocks is the worst for me because any of the manual work arounds are very time consuming.

    None of this was a problem in the old WP, which, I could go back, and maybe I will, but I wanted to stay up to date on any security stuff, that’s the main reason for updating. My site is super simple so I don’t really need fancy tools, although I don’t mind actual improvements.

    Any help is appreciated, and I would love to know if anyone else has had these bugs or even heard of them before. Maybe I’m the only one seeing this stuff?

    Oh, I just thought of one other strange thing that is new with this version of WP:

    4) Sometimes when I have copied multiple blocks, and then I paste them onto another page, it will double paste it, except, the 2nd paste will be missing just a little bit, like the last few blocks or so.

    So, there will be one full copy pasted, and then a 95% copy pasted. I then have to either try using Ctrl Z (doesn’t always work) or just manually remove the extra. It’s bizarre. At first I thought I had accidentally double clicked the paste key, but it happens maybe, 1/3rd of the time, maybe a little more.
