• Hello,
I have several domains hosted with Hostinger. I have the latest version of wordpress, and the issue happens on all the sites I’ve tried installing wordpress on.

Basically I install wordpress and want to try several themes. I install one, it works fine* (somewhat fine, details below) but when I install the second one, the website displays as a mix of layout from theme 1 and content from theme 2.

*Sometimes, when I install a theme that has demo content, the demo content either does not install when I try to install it (I get a message that says “Successfully installed”) or it is also a mix or more than one demo template.

This happens regardless of what theme I try to install.
I’ve contacted my host but they can’t find an issue on the hosting site, so I wonder if it’s something WordPress related.

This sounds like a caching issue. Clear all caches (browser & on the server) when changing themes.

    Hello Steve,

    Thanks for your reply.

I thought it was a cache issue too but clearing the cache didn’t work. In fact I tried 2 different cache plugins, LiteSpeed Cache and another one whose name I have forgotten as I deleted it. The issue remains, and, if you look at this screenshot, you will see that when I select a page template to upload, the confirmation message asks me to confirm something I did not select. No matter which template I choose, if I choose any page other than the first one listed, the “heads up!” window always asks me to confirm the very first page. In this instance I chose the page “Home”, you can tell by the thin blue line around it.

It’s talking about importing templates… What theme are you using?

    Hello,
I am using WP Magazine theme, the “WP Lifestyle” demo template for the theme for my blog.
Then I wanted to add a shop page, so I added woocommerce and went to edit the shop page by going to edit –> starter templates and I thought if I import a page (not theme) template, that shop page will look like the template. It doesn’t, not entirely. Firstly, whatever template I choose, it only takes up part of the page, the right hand side where widgets are, are blank if I deactivate the right side bar widgets for the shop page, thinking that this would let the template be full width. Also, some elements of the template do not display properly, for examples, some icons appear as giant pictures.

The second issue is the website theme overrides the template page and has the same heading.
The third issue is if I don’t like this template and try to import a new page template, the page will end up being a mix of both templates.
A workaround is if I delete the page and create the page again and import the second template, the mix issue will go away, but the first issue remains.

Here is a screenshot to show you what it looks like:

Page is a mix of Outdoor Adventure template content and Simply Natural template layout

So the issue is importing stuff within the theme, not a general changing-the-theme-from-one-to-another WordPress isue. Please contact the developers of your theme for assistance with their template/sub-theme import.
